Move along, nothing to see here… turns out Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea‘s supposed ‘beef’ is all just in the imagination of the internet. When accepting her BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Minaj said “when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it”, which caused uproar within their fandom, with many fans assuming this was a jab against the fresh Aussie artist.
The pair quickly settled things, with Azalea commenting on her Instagram “If I had won a BET award that would’ve been great but it wasn’t my year & I don’t mind … Generally speaking I am unbothered by anything that “happened” at the BET awards … just let it go.”
Minaj also took to Twitter to defend herself:
The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!

I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud.

So it wasn’t nearly as exciting as #WhatJayZSaidToSolange (would you judge me if I said I was disappointed?)
